About Us

Our Story

House of Thomas Funeral Home began in the mind of God even before its owner was born. Growing up the vision was planted in the mind of a young boy, who along with his cousins, conducted imaginary funerals. The boy grew up into a young man, continuing with the desire to help people and live out his dream of being a funeral director.

While studying at the University of South Carolina in Columbia he inquired to a family friend Rene Carter a resident of Columbia at that time about working at a funeral home. She guided him to E. Perry Palmer owner of Johnson’s Funeral Home. E. Perry Palmer hired him and began to instruct him on the professional duties of the funeral business. This sealed the idea that he could own his own funeral home. He later entered Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service in Atlanta, Ga. and after graduating, served as an apprentice under E Perry Palmer at Palmer’s Memorial Chapel and J. P. Holly Funeral Home in Columbia, S.C. Relocating back to Dillon in 1987 and obtaining further experience he served under William Penn Troy at Troy’s Funeral Home in Mullins, S.C.
